JOHN 1972: "Another horror."

JOHN 1980: "Another of my throwaways."

GEORGE 1987: "I think it was Paul and me, or maybe John and me, playing (guitar) in harmony-- quite a complicated little line that goes through the middle-eight."

PAUL 1995: "One of my favorites on the Anthology is, 'And Your Bird Can Sing,' which is a nice song, but this take of it was one we couldn't use at the time. John and I got a fit of the giggles while we were doing the double-track. You couldn't have released it at the time. But now you can. Sounds great just hearing us lose it on a take."

The song was actually a dig at Frank Sinatra who had recently dissed The Beatles in the press as a group that was was not very good at singing. Listen to the lyrics and it makes sense.

I Once read somewhere that this song was a dig at Mick Jagger, apparently the two bands & all wives/girlfriends we attending a party in someone's house, & apparently during the night marianne Faithful was supposed to have come on the John, he kept knocking her back (wasn't interested) and later on he apparently wrote this song in order to shut Jagger up as he was always boasting about what he had, how much he worth & so on, so this was Lennon's response(you might thinks you're great & your girl's a good singer, but she can't get me to sleep with her)
